Why display your Family photographs?

Hello there!

Thanks for swinging by and catching my blog.

I hope that the lighter evenings and warmer days (we won't mention the sleet earlier!) are making you feel that little bit more optimistic and joyful.

My first family session of the year and what felt like the first in an eternity was on Saturday, and I cannot wait to share the gallery with you all! It felt so good to be out photographing again and with the hope that this will be for the continuation of the year now!

With this mind, I wanted to share what I hope is an inspiring post! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

We photograph the things we love, that capture our eye or mean something to us and with family photos it's all of the above.

One of the best ways to appreciate your family photography is to display them beautifully around your home.

Why consider displaying your photographs?

If you don't normally display your family photographs, or are guilty of having them just as digital copies (aren't we all!) I hope the below few points remind you how important it is and how passionate I am about family photographs being displayed in your family home.

So come on then you say, why?

The first reason is it gets your photos off of your digital device or out of your photo album!

Photographs are snapshots of time and memories that should be displayed and admired for the days, weeks, months and years to come. This is why as part of your gallery when you have a session with me, I will provide mock-ups of some of your images in frames or mounts that you can purchase.

Further, displaying your memories instantly makes a house a home. Do you ever step into a room where you have your precious memories displayed and instantly feel connected to your loved ones and reminded of the good times?

Also, well chosen framing and mounting of your photographs can enhance the scene captured, compliment your interiors aesthetic and importantly offers them a measure of protection preventing frayed edges, creases, discolouration to name a few.

Interestingly, it has also been noted there is great benefit to a child's mental health when they see images of themselves with their family displayed in the family home.

David Krauss, a licensed psychologist from Cleveland, Ohio says, “I think it is really important to show a family as a family unit. It is so helpful for children to see themselves as a valued and important part of that family unit."
