Cake anyone?

 "Life is too short to say no to cake"


Cakes play a big part of your overall wedding theme, not only providing a tasty treat for your guests but can also act as a centrepiece. 


I had the pleasure of photographing a selection of cakes that were designed and created by London based Bianca Branche - Beez cakes.




Choosing a wedding cake can be daunting, as can selecting a supplier. So I've cut some of the work out for you!


I asked Beez Cakes some of the top questions to ask your wedding cake maker.


What size cake/s should I go for?

This depends on the number of guests you are having. Ideally, it would be nice to have enough cake to feed them all. If you think that not everyone will want to eat cake, then you can afford to reduce the number of servings.


The number of servings a cake will yield depends largely on the size of the portions. A typical wedding slice is 2”x1” and a finger slice is 1”x1”. The smaller the slice, the more servings you will have.
A three tier cake can be made to feed approximately 100-120 people, but if you know the number of tiers you’d like, your cake can be made to that size.

Can I have different flavours?

Yes! Many couples are moving away from the traditional fruit cake and opting for different flavour sponge tiers. Why? It’s fun, it adds variety and caters to different tastes. If you still want to have fruit cake you should note that it will usually be the base tier because it will be the heaviest.

Can I try a  sample of the cake/s?

Yes. I do offer cake samples to customers who request these. I think it’s important to be completely happy with your chosen cake maker and a huge part of that decision is being happy with the taste of your cake. I would suggest that anyone paying a considerable amount of their hard earned cash on their wedding cake, to try a sample.

If any guests have allergies can you cater for them? 

I do take into account the customers dietary requirements if they mention these in their enquiries or at their consultation. I cater for gluten free, dairy free and vegan requests. If there are any other allergies presented to me, I work together with the couple for a safe alternative.

How will my cake/s be delivered?

I personally deliver all of the wedding cakes, as I like to be involved from beginning to end. The cakes are usually delivered as individual tiers and then setup at the venue to avoid any damage during transit.


How are wedding cakes priced?
I am often asked “how much do you charge for a wedding cake?” However, there is not a straightforward answer because there are many factors that affect the final cost of your cake such as: ‘Will your cake be covered in fondant icing? Will you decide on having a fruit cake? What sugar decorations would you like? Is it a novelty type of wedding cake?’ I would suggest that you give your cake maker as much information on what you’d like your cake to be, so that they can provide you with an accurate quote. Typically, the more detail and time consuming your cake is, the more expensive it will be.
